What helps in the description
- The kind of tree, if you know it. Live oak, mesquite, hackberry and palm are all useful answers, and an oak changes the timing.
- Roughly how tall it stands against your roofline, and how wide the trunk is straight across.
- What it could land on: a house, a pool, a fence, a car.
- Any wire in the branches, and whether it runs pole to pole or pole to house, if you can tell.
- Its condition: dead, leaning, split, already down, or standing in water after a storm.
- Whether an insurance claim is open, and whether you have taken your photos yet.
- Whether you want the stump ground and the brush hauled off.
- How a truck would reach it, and how wide any gate is.
- Your general area, such as Flour Bluff, Padre Island or the nearest main road.

Not for emergencies
This is not an emergency service. If a tree is on a power line or a house, or someone is hurt, call 911 or the utility first. The after a storm page has more on what to do.
